The 34th Marine Corps Marathon™ was a fantastic success for Team Hope For The Warriors™ with more than 100 athletes running the
streets of our nation’s Capitol to raise funds and awareness for our joint mission: to ensure that no sacrifice is forgotten, nor
need unmet for the wounded heroes and the families of the fallen. Thanks to team members and our sponsors, Hope For The Warriors™
raised more than $182,000 in donations. It was a fabulous day, marked by perfect weather and many personal success stories.
Among this year’s highlights, Hope For The Warriors™ sponsored nine wounded heroes at this year’s event, who all completed the
course on hand cycle. In particular, Marine LCpl. Matt Bradford completed the event on a hand cycle, despite the loss of his vision
and both legs from injuries incurred in Iraq. Four other team members, including two injured heroes, guided Bradford through the course.
Additionally, MSgt. Carl Traub (USMC Ret.), a double amputee with a spinal cord injury, was one of our team’s top fundraisers.
Many of the team stopped by our booth at the Marine Corps Marathon Expo to say hello, while others joined us for a fantastic pre-race
pasta dinner at the Arlington Hyatt. Once again, our team gathered at our tent in charity village; there was great sense of camaraderie
among team members from around the country, plus food galore. Hope For The Warriors™ would especially like to thank our 2009 Marine Corps
Marathon Team sponsors Potomac Field Gear, Textron, the VT Group and NSAWW.
Check back in February 2010 for details about next year’s Marine Corps Marathon team. In the meantime, you can run any race of your
