Our 2010 Marine Corps Marathon Team of more than 100 community runners raised more than $90,000 and the donations are still coming in as word
spreads about their accomplishments. They also spent a great day in a gorgeous city listening to the cheers of the best spectators ever. It was
a fun event from beginning to end, made all the better because everyone was working hard for a great cause.
Our wounded Teammates rocked the course on hand cycles and running. Marine Cpl. Matt Bradford, a blind, double amputee, bested his last years
finish time by a whopping hour and twenty minutes! Several of these guys also completed their first marathon ever on a hand cycle including Staff
Sgt. Steve Valyou, USA, and GySgt. Matt Austin, USMC. Sgt. Sean Debevoise, USMC (ret), and LCpl Matthew Tooker, USMC, crossed the finish line on
foot in their first ever marathonsovercoming significant obstacles from combat injuries. Returning team members Maj. A.J. Tong, USA; CW04 Chris
Hedgcorth, USMC (ret); and Paul Kelley each had another great day on the course.
A big shout out to our top fundraisers: Amy Sacks, Dave Dacquino, Chris Taylor, and Mona Sims. Amy went over $10,000 on race day morning
with a $5,000 check presentation to her cause from Tee It Up For Troops and went on to have a fabulous first marathon. Go Team Hope!
A second big shout out goes to our fabulous sponsors and volunteers. VT Group made all of the food in Charity Village tent possible.
Piedmont Massage School stepped up at the last minute to provide free race day massages at the tent in Charity Village. And finally,
a special thanks to all of our volunteers on the course!
